The TRIX indicator is a momentum oscillator that displays the rate of change between a triple moving average and a smoothed triple moving average.  TRIX attempts to be smoother than a typical moving average to reduce volatility and give a stronger indication of trend.

This indicator was developed on FXCodebase.

INPUTS
  • TRIX Periods: The numbers of periods used to calculate the three moving averages
  • First Smoothing Method: indicates the method used in calculating the first moving average
  • Second Smoothing Method: indicates the method used in calculating the second moving average
  • Third Smoothing Method: indicates the method used in calculating the third moving average
  • Signal Periods: The numbers of periods used to calculate the signal line
  • Signal Smoothing Method: indicates the method used in calculating the signal line

Smoothing methods available include:

  • MVA: Simple Moving Average
  • EMA: Exponential Moving Average
  • LWMA: Linear Weighted Moving Average
  • TMA: Triple Moving Average
